My names Richard Lukasiewicz and I was born and raised in the quote on quote "Forgotten Borough" (Staten Island). I am a soon to be graduate of the Bachelors of Landscape Architecture program at SUNY-ESF. While I've explored NYC several times, these visits are typically with a pre-determined destination in mind. However taking 7 Days aside to explore New York City as an urban landscape opens up a new way of taking in the city and I'm excited to discover new elements that I may come across.
In terms of commuting into the city, I have two locations that I will be residing in based on accessibility. I will either commute from Staten Island to Manhattan (via. Staten Island Ferry) or from Brooklyn to Manhattan (via DeKalb Ave). I still don't know during what days I will be staying at either location but either commute is not of serious concern to me.
To explain the picture a bit more, it was taken at the East Side Gallery in Berlin, Germany. I visited Germany for 90 days in order to complete my Off-Campus Study. The East Side Gallery is essentially a 4/5 of a mile long section of the Berlin Wall that has been retained with artwork expressing ideas revolving around the Cold War Era.
Can't wait to see you all!
