This video was my first ever attempt at iMovie. The format is pretty much the one I'm going to use while comparing the Riverside park and the East River Park. I'll put two of same types of structures or landscapes like for example a play ground or a dog park next to each other in a split screen and have some sort of audio affect to go along with it. After making this video I have realized that each clip should be around 10 second not anything less or more. I also need to work on the transitions because of of them seem to have a little glitch here and there. I also will post it with a better some that better represents NYC. I'm thinking a Beatles song, Simon & Garfunkel or maybe something in the punk genre because it fits the NYC feel.
This video is a mash of spots that we have visited that can be compared to in some sort of way. I wanted to give the video and up beat feel so I picked a song that was very up beat in tempo but also has roots in NYC. The last clip is of the subway which I felt like was nice way to end the video and I think I'm going to keep that for my final video. Other then that I felt like for my first try this was pretty good try. Some of the frames were taken at the same places just to see how that would work but I felt like having two different spots in NYC next to each other is more effective in showing the differences between opposite areas. Going from frame to frame doesn't allow the viewer to really take in the differences.

Today we visited Lincoln Center, the roofgarden at the MET, Socrates Art Park and The Noguchi Museum which all were parks that incorporated art into there designs. I felt like the interactive art pieces helped the parks who had them become more successful because every age group would be able to take advantage of it. The parks that you could only view the art were a bit less exciting though the art work was beautiful, it just reminded me more of an out door museum then a park.
Today was a great last day and I'm going to miss all of the wonderful people I have met over this experience but I will probably see you all after summer! I can't wait to continue my study within this major and it's partly due to this class and all the things I have taken away from it. Have a great summer everyone.

crystal,
i think the split-screen structure of the film makes sense, but i would use far more restraint in the music soundtrack and special effects. bring the 2 sides of the screen closer together so that they really form a single screen (but still read as separate images). no music, please, work on soundtrack more closely, or no sound at all, but please, no music videos! i would work on the pacing a bit more, no fancy powerpoint transitions either, which takes away from the images themselves.
i would suggest using less clips but being more purposeful in the juxtaposition of the images themselves. as i said with other students in the class today, this feels more like a collection of clips than a purposefully put-together film.
lastly, i'm not sure personally how i feel seeing people in the class IN the film. this is like the rule of asking the subject or actors never to look in the eye of the camera since it reminds the audience that this is a film in the first place!

Just made a new draft without the song, it does make it feel more like a movie rather than a music video.
