As the trip comes to a close with today being the second to last day, a lot has been seen. The volunteer work aspect of today was very rewarding. Our task at hand was to help the group of people in planting and making 9th street in Brooklyn a much more pleasant and enjoyable place to live.
Our assignment for the day was to take a panoramic shot of an area around us. I decided to take my first panoramic of the community around 9th street. I decided this because of one fundamental reason. As we were volunteering and filling the planters with soil and adding the plants, mostly everyone who passed us was saying thank you, and good job. The community in the area was not only impressed with our actions but was proud of their community. They were happy that an organization took it upon themselves to make their area a more green and blossoming street. As a couple of other volunteers and I were talking, we came across a thought, most New Yorkers love living in the city but at the same time they miss the green and beauty that nature can offer. I believe by doing this work we not only improved the community in that area but also made a positive effort in helping the earth. This was especially true for a very nice little old lady who couldn't have been happier about the plants being in front of her house. She had come out with us for most of the day and was helping us water and clean up. Having lived there for more then 40 years she was proud of our efforts to improve the area.
The second video is of the sky from our last stop on the air strip. At first I was regretting going on the bike ride due to the distance we needed to travel, but after we got the bikes I quickly changed my mind. The views and peaceful bike ride across the bridge was not only and adventure but also relaxing. Once we parked our bikes by the water near the beach I looked up at the sky and a sense of peace and relaxation came on to me. This is why I decided to take a panoramic of the sky as the sun was beginning to set. As the day came to a conclusion I can safely say that the decision to ride the bikes was 100% a positive experience.
