The usage of video to capture a single space was thought provoking. I pondered over the most interesting means of fulfilling the assignment. Oddly enough, I continued mulling it over while I was on the swings at Michael Van Valkenburgh's Brooklyn Pier Park when I decided a video of the swings would be visually intriguing, especially the language in the air plane between the moving form of the swing and the stationary ground plane. To be honest, this video was inspired by a fellow studio member's final project proposal: a series of swings over water that dangle its users fearfully close to the water plane elements. My argument is that I do not need water as the ground plane for it to be dramatic and intriguing. In fact, there is something to be said about the way Vincent's coat barely grazes the ground surface and its fluidity compared to the stubborn hardness of the ground.
One of the biggest parts of our trip these past couple days has been the use of the subway to move between areas. My capture looks at how the train comes into the station and the intricate shuffling of people. I'm sure a mathematician could map the varied paths people take to enter and exit the car. Although the pathing seems random, after watching enough boardings it is clear there is a rhythm to the madness. Everyone seems to know exactly what to do even though they aren't paying attention. It is always easy to tell who is new to the subway based on the subtle cues of apprehensiveness and worry.

The swing video is a really interesting take on the assignment, lots of movement in a still shot. Cool!

I like both your videos, especially the second one. I think if there no other sounds besides the train sound it would be so cool

I agree with Becky. I really like the angle you took for the swing video-- it does a nice job of showing how users interact not only with items like the swings, but also with the ground plane.
