Mirror Labyrinth is an amazing sculpture. It is so simple yet you can get lost in it. The interactive component really makes this piece amazing as it adds to the space. It sits on a lawn and draws people to it. It is something you can look at for hours and not get bored with. I chose to post this video because I feel like this interactive site really effects the Brooklyn Bridge Park in a way that makes it more welcoming. It's telling people to come and look, play and explore. Most art pieces are usually just for looking but when a park has something interactive like this it becomes inviting for every one of every age and that is important when putting together an open space like this. You want everyone to enjoy being able to relax but also view something interesting or aseptically pleasing so that it doesn't mimic other open spaces that are similar. This is defiantly unique and art like this really adds an interesting aspect to the area. The park itself is full of other forms of art as well that really add to the different sections so that there is something for everyone during every season of the year. This creates community which is important when creating a park. The play grounds were also very unique and interesting. The playgrounds were definitely far from your typical American playground in style and equipment. This definitely makes the park stand out from every other park in the area.

We then left to go see another very interactive park called Prospect Park which I have been to for my grade schools field days ever since I can remember. It's a great park with open segments of field that is built for large groups and schools to come and spend the day playing. After that we visited the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens visitors center to see the architecture of the center and to make a connection of where the landscape architecture begins and stops. With a green roof on top and seating areas with plants to the side of it, it shows that architecture and landscape architecture is one of the same when creating both a useful and interactive seating area. After that because the problem with the bikes we sat on the bored walk of Rockaway beach which I thought was a nice space for people to just sit and watch the beach. Once we got to the bike place though we couldn't see everything we wanted to, we got to experience a very interesting wetland that is used for kayaking and other water or boat sports.

Though The end of today was full of surprises it brought the day to a really interesting close with a great experience in a place I have never been to. The neighborhood was a huge culture shock from the usual NYC feel. There were football fields and a huge suburban community feel. I’ll definitely be going back especially to take that four person bike out for another ride.

No matter how still one is, the world around you is in a whirlwind of movement. Whether a wave on the shore or bubbles investing the veins of a bacteria complied beverage, each variation has its reason.

A nice and quite afternoon inside of Brooklyn Botanic Garden. The design of green roof nicely integrate with landscape. This narrow path is at a higher level that the building, walking through it, people will notice how interesting the building is.

These two videos both be shoot at Brooklyn Bridge Park. A view from the walkway in the waterfront. As for the first one, I chose the fence to create a fixed framework and showing the water wave through time. The second one shows how the floating basement moves following the water wave.

The sounds of the birds(nature)--The distance from near to far

Today's landscapes we visited are really beautiful. The elements I would like to focus on is the sound of the birds. The film clip is consisted of the videos I took of four different landscapes, in a sequences of the distance to the city from near to far.
Human's inhabitation, the traffic flows and the high-rise buildings limited the spaces of landscapes. For the birds, the animal instinct is helping them to find a better place to live in.
For those people who are living in the busy city for a long time, the view of the huge green park is bringing them the feeling of the relaxing experience. And these landscapes created a nicer environment for the animals simultaneously.

Brooklyn Bridge Park is well-knitted waterfront park design which combined various recreation place, playground and promenade. Each piers has different characters based on its original size, functions, surrounding condition and other profiles. Also, the park not only use the material which came from city development but also rehabilitate neighbor area. For instance, it created kind of mounding by using sand and rocks came from construction field in Manhattan and new resident and hotel is constructing beside of park. This waterfront looks beautiful and wonderful for neighborhood and visitors. However, we can find some ironic things. One of ironic thing is that floating ferry boats. It is really fantastic and fascinating to experience waterside on the boat. The waterfront park applicably utilize this transportation to attract people. However, it could destroy aquatic habitat and make some noise to neighborhood. The initial purpose of waterfront park is not only preserve aquatic habitat and create active recreation place for neighborhood, on the other hand, some of its components can step back from its advance.

SPEED SEQUENCE

The video is just like a section that present a sequence showing the different user with the different speed interact with the site/ landscape. Some of them are just walk through this park; some are completing their daily jogging or biking; and some others are passing or stranded on the highway. No matter which one they are, all of them do regard as the user within Brooklyn Bridge Park. Therefore, I think it is important to consider about this issue when we at the beginning of the design process that we have to think about, assume or imagine what it will look like in their eyes. Maybe the fine details are offered for people just take a walk, and the big overall impression is for the drivers.

LANDSCAPE must be USED

Brooklyn Bridge Park + Prospect Park+ Jacob Riis Park

Passing through the street, we arrived on the platform rising above the highway, planting a plenty of plants separating the residential housing and the pedestrian pathway. We look over the Brooklyn Bridge Park along the waterfront, creating a long urban green belt surrounding the Brooklyn. Pier 1 was constructed to be majorly playground and also meant to be a resilient zone for stormproof as a main concept to design the whole site. In many details, the site offers accessible ramp for people to get down to water, like the enjoyment of beach which is very unusual in New York City. The water is a major element to interact with the waterfront landscape, seeing the different height of tide and its movement of waving. Another interesting factor is the flow of heavy traffic which produce certain noise and builds the sandwich-like composition for the park’s backdrop, showing three different speeds in the same three dimensions. The Prospect Park first reminds me the Central Park in the Manhattan in terms of scale and its central field providing a huge open space to accommodate any random events there. The wind causes the movement of trees and grass to give a sense of temperature and the joy of sound. Jacob Riis Park is completely outside of the city and all the tourist services look abandoned, although the ocean and the beach are perfectly standing still and well preserved.
