[CONTRAST]

When the schedule started walked in Brooklyn, I felt the sounds in the environment are very diverse. The sound made by people and machine are all happened in the same time, and all the sounds can be heard separately. I recorded different sounds in today's trip, from waterfront - Hunter’s Point South Park to green roof – Grange Rooftop farm and ended at hardscape - Navy Yard, and then pick up two of them in order to represent the diversity and contrast of the sounds in Brooklyn.

One of the sound clips recorded the simple-hearted laughter from the children who were led by teacher having a lesson on the Rooftop Farm. By hearing the sound, we can even saw how happy they are and imagine how big smile is on their innocent face. It all had to thank to the dawn of this self-sufficiency, eco-friendly “happy farm”. Without it, there will not be a place full of ideal, will not had a chance to attract a lot of volunteer run for it; will lost a lot of precious memory for kids, and will certainly waste such a good stage to promote this kind of great idea.

Another one, by contrast, was the sound of construction site which was a new development designed by Steven Hall. Its location was surrounded by a lot of newly built luxury residences which had breathtaking scenery at Gantry State Park in long island city. Because of the landscape design, this area, which was set up a lot of factories and therefore not being welcome by people, received a chance of revive. By observing the developing process, in my opinion, I found the principle or trend of urban development is the same all over the world. It switched decade by decade.

After hearing these two totally different sound tracks, maybe we can assume that maybe we have to suffer during the construction period first, and then to enjoy a better quality of the life!
