Today, I visited the museum of the city of the New York, the Mana Fine art and the Earth room. I mostly stayed inside of building, but I could focus on the relationship between development and preservation of building and landscape through the exhibitions.

What I visited at first and most impressive exhibition today was the 'saving place: 50 years of New York City landmarks.' We had always debate about development and preservation in the city as landscape and building architects. Those two term is really sensitive issues and we can't discriminate between right and wrong of demolition of old place. Because, we have to consider the opinion owners and economic benefit of establishing new building and place. However, the important thing is that any place is a part of our memories and an essential layer to be reckoned with in our lives. I also thought about the importance of landmarks through the 'Time-scape' which is another 22 min film exhibition. Because, our landscape is not only reflected by city planning but also composed by historical events and general opinions. Therefore, we have to consider the historical meaning of place.

Afternoon, I visited the Mana Fine Art to watch the Richard Meier model museum. Unfortunately, I had to reserve to visit the exhibition. So, I just looked at the models at the outside of room. However, it was great experience for thinking about the boundaries of designer. Because, there were various scale of designs stacked on shelves from furnitures to landscape architecture. Interesting things was they have different size and scale but have same material which makes harmony or unity.

I could rethink about many things from exhibitions, especially the relationship of landscape and other elements such as building, lives and memories. I can consider the landscape as not only the infrastructure but also fundamental element of our lives.

glad you went off the beaten path of the Whitney museum and the highline to explore on your own. I read this amazing book about the construction of the Brooklyn that I would strongly recommend if you're interested in urban infrastructure, it is really fascinating. what a great photo!

Yes I revisited highling and I headed for the museum of New York City and Central Park. It has great exhibition called Timescape which shows the history of NYC landscape. I want to recommend it to classmates. You may know that but we need reservations for Richard Meire model room. I couldn't look at it. BTW, what is a title of the book you recommended?
