Wow, what a week!  I agree Vincent, we got our share of exercise!  I only wish I could say I lost weight!  : )  Somehow the battery on my activity tracker was dying, so right after I got home, it wiped out THE most active week I have ever recorded, or ever will I'm sure!  Most of the numbers for the week got erased, but I did get the general mileage Sunday afternoon when we finished up at Socrates Art Park.  Here it is:
On Monday: 9.6 miles
Tuesday:  10.5 miles
Wednesday:  7.4 miles
Thursday:  Free Day varied for each of us
Friday:  8.9 miles
Saturday: 6.6 miles, but that didn't include the biking!! I know we burned a lot of calories on those bikes!
Sunday:  7.2 miles

Altogether including my Thursday at Dia Beacon, I logged 57 miles by the end of Sunday night!
As tired as I was, I wouldn't trade a minute.  Meeting all of you, as well as some nationally known experts was so thrilling.  For never being to NYC in my long life, I couldn't have planned a better way to see it.

Everyone always talks about the things they liked most, but I have to mention one I didn't care for.  I think the grand entrance at the Met was like a midway at a carnival with all the vendors and hotdog stands.  It lost it's regal mystique in the umbrellas and brightly colored advertisements.   I think they could come up with a better use of this entry to one of the most famous buildings in the world.

I think my favorite sites were Governors Island and Floyd Bennett Field because of the history and nostalgia of the very active places they once were.  It was like a bittersweet experience with each; a sadness for what is no longer- seen in the skeletal remains of architecture, and a sense of hope and renewal for what they are becoming- an old infrastructure with a renewed purpose.  I really enjoyed all the waterfront renewal taking place on every shore all over Manhattan and Brooklyn.  These parks are innovative, creative and tap into the unique history of transportation between land and sea.

It was honestly an honor to meet each of you, you are a group of talented and gracious young people with bright futures ahead of you all!  Good luck in your studies, BEST!

I think it's awesome that you recorded the amount of walking we did each day! I wanted to get some sort of pedometer app or something for my phone, but never got the chance. Crazy how much we walked....
