Reconstructive Landscape

I was born in a industrial small city which producing zinc and boats decades ago. While after few years later, lank of energy and increasing of productivity leaded many factories abandon and became a kind of city wasteland. So when I was an undergraduates student, I would like pay more attention to industrial reconstruction.

During a 7-days walking through NYC, I founded there are lots of great reconstruction landscape projects. They created landscape from old industrial site, provided different kinds of green place for citizens hanging out.

For example, High Line, Before it was abandoned railway but after reconstruction now is a great city garden.

I liked your video but were the pictures in the beginning your pictures or someone else's? I thought that your theme was very clear and you did a good job portraying it. I would recommend you adding more sites just because those two are the more popular re-builds in the city but the lesser known projects can be interesting. The ending shit was also pretty long and took hold of most of the video by the end.

Good film and nice topic. I do have a question. How do you define the reconstruction of urban landscape? I can see the coherent idea through the first one to the second, but kind of getting lost in the third one because it is still abandoned and full of graffito which is showing the counterculture against the popularity seen in The Highline and 911 Memorial.

Few comments

Your theme is really good that you did focus on reconstruction of urban landscape. But I'm not sure how 911 memorial park and apple store plaza can be related to your theme. And the raw sound can not support your theme like wind sound or some conversation. And if you compare the abandoned street which has graffiti with well renovated landscape design, it could show effectively what you want to say.

I personally like the former part of the video much more than the ending. I think you did a great job on showing you theme with introduction, high line details, 911 memorial park and apple store plaza, maybe you could show a little more images about the destroy of 911 and original images before apple store plaza built. Plus, even though I love the last shoot, but the time for ending is a bit long.

I really like that you had before and after shots of the sites you chose to show, but I also would have liked to see more of your own shots. Overall, the film was put together nicely, and it was cool to see what the sites looked like before we visited them. Love the concept!

The first half part has represented the theme clear with the comparison between "before and after". I think maybe you need to add the reference of the before pictures since they are from someone else's work~ And the other half part of Brooklyn, the theme is not that clear, so you could still add some "before" images or other videos from different perspectives~~ Because the 911 memorial and the high line have a great contrast of before and after, so in the brooklyn video, I think keep it presenting in the same way would be better~~

As lots comment above said, I also like the first third of the film. You wisely combine some images showing the history before with the current photo taken by yourself. It's clear to see how it be reconstructed and revived. But I am a little bit confused about the part of graffiti in Brooklyn, it accounts for almost two-thirds of the movie from 0:50 to the end. I am guessing that you are trying to show here is the next reconstruction project (maybe), or something else behind it. Anyway, good job!
