The contrast of noisy and quiet, crowed and relax, concrete and gardens, organized and nasty places  attracts me the most during this 7 days trip. Through all the parks, gardens and green place I saw, from Bryant Park to Ford Foundation, from Riverside park to Esplanade, the city is showing multiple faces to us. I think it is why this city is so attractive, cause you won't know what is next, a giant public park might be adjacent to a block of skyscrapers, a waterfall is hidden in between two business buildings, a farm is producing next to your roof, a stray singer suddenly shows in the subway station where you always go. People in New York City is so busy yet so relaxed, they can chose to yelling through a phone for 8 hours and they can end with a leisure dog walk in a park. Through this movie, I want to present the contradiction of textures in city, life styles in city, these elements are what constructed the city.

Some texts in the film were helpful to understand your video.

If you focused on how the artificial nature and natural nature elements can appropriately reflected on the urban landscape design, it can be more interesting. For instance, artificial rocks assembled on concrete wall in teardrop park or artificial lawn of soccer field in Brooklyn Bridge Park can be effective examples of that.

there are some interesting elements in the film, but like many others you're trying to show too man things and end up diluting the results: the exploration of the ground as a material surface (what you call "lush" and "hard") could be very interesting unto its own, but the theme is not developed enough here beyond a few images. the image of the soccer field in brooklyn bridge park that you include here would make a great addition under this theme.

I think it may be useful if you could also create a theme line to connect all shoots. Every comparison seems quite strong as well as the text but as a whole one, maybe you could do better!

Interesting compilation of comparing and contrasting spaces. I was not sure if this "compare and contrasting" counts as a specific theme or topic but nevertheless, it is an interesting perspective. Your explanation of your thought process is very helpful to read before watching the film and makes very valid points. I like your point about unpredictability, "you won't know what is next, a giant public park might be adjacent to a block of skyscrapers, a waterfall is hidden in between two business buildings, a farm is producing next to your roof..."

I think my favorite part about this film is the opening shot of the water feature we looked at at Teardrop Park. It is very mesmerizing. I appreciated how the shots did not alternate from horizontal to longitudinal and appreciate the consistency. I only wish the images were larger so I could better see the lovely shots.

I thought the shots you got were beautiful but it's hard to recognize the theme within all of the images and videos that were displayed. Also the music was a bit distracting from the natural noise you were trying to convey. Though the transitions and make of the video were done very well

Nice result. I find out you are interested in different materials of many surfaces in the film especially the ground because it looks like you were looking down very often. So I am guessing you want to show the contradiction of hard and soft surfaces, water, grass against stones and rocks? Anyway, thanks for the sharing.

I like the idea you try to present!! And it has a nice result.

But some shots I can understand that the comparison happened in one place, some shots I can not understand so well because I am not sure they were in one place. Maybe you can put more shot or image between them to show the relationship.

Hey Jingyuan~~ I like the BGM that you combined with the actual sound you took of the site, the effect is great. And for the film, I think if you could narrow down the four or more comparisons into just one or two comparison, it will make your theme more clear~~ The ending part is great! It looks so elegant!

Wonderful shots! The music throughout the film is distracting from the sounds and doesn't create a sense of space within the film. Other than that i enjoyed your creative topic.
