It's really interesting theme. I think this theme is one of the our course purpose that we should think about the efforts and participation behind landscape and we participated the volunteer work.
this is by far the most critical and clear-eyed theme explored in any of the films that really show us an apsect of the projects that is often ignored. great work! i think you settled on a great theme early on during the eek, and pursued / documented it relentlessly after that.
i know that none of us are filmmakers, but that doesn't mean that we can't be critical of the results from a formal standpoint: first, i strenuously object to the use of a musical soundtrack (esp. vampire weekend) over the film, this doesn't help the work at all. focus on maintenance sounds! second, i think the juxtaposition of moving images and still images is a bit problematic, and i think the film may have been better off focusing on one over the other. you clearly have enough of either type of footage to do this.
I really like this film! The idea, images, video, all of them are really attractive! You notice a lot of things that we seldom pay attention on, we might saw them, knew them before but never understood how it work, how to use it. In addition, this film even teach us how to plant a bush(1:35~1:50). I think it's really nice to allow people learning something about landscape construction from the film instead of just appreciate the finished beautiful work.
However, there still something could be improved. One thing is about the background music, it's quite relaxed and light. I think maybe in some specific shot you can turn down the volume of it and highlight the sound of the actor, such as workers, machines, etc. Another thing is about the wind sound, it happens in some of the cuts that seems become a kind of noise in the film. Maybe you can use the same method mentioned above to solve it.
All in all, Nice work! :)
At the beginning of the class, you already told me your theme about the final video but this is still beyond my imagination! It's so critical and full of details that I never pay attention to. It seems like you did a lot of work through the week! The only discomfortable point is that the transition of images still felt a little strange.
A very clever theme. A glimpse into the production of the many different place we visited. Nice cinematography!
It is an interesting topic that you chose, we do need to know what happened during the construction of landscape and behind them. The pretty thing is not out there by themselves, the process is crucial and pretty just the same.
Very unique and clever theme. I noticed you getting shots of the workers but I never wandered why, now I know! It is clear you had a vision right from the start of our journey last week and that effort really shines through in this film.
If I had to choose something that could be improved on I was just say to add some subtitles of the names of the spaces that the planters/ construction workers were working on. Or maybe even add a few images of what the space looks like after the "job is done." Something like that would have been a simple way to improve the film and make it easier to follow.
Your theme was very clear and the way you transitions from still to moving images was done very clean cut which adds to the strength of the video. I do feel as though this video has a lot of landscaping which is apart of landscape architecture but not the whole story. I would have liked to see more construction and building instead of planting.
Good job you video shows that you put a lot of hard work into it!
I really like your film and I think your is the most successful one. I like the way you show the planting though people's hand and tools. Personally I like the tools because it gave me surprises to remind me that we are actually so relying on the machine to make our environments green. And because of that, these tools are very unique like some landing machine on Mars. If I were you , I would focus on the planting tools only. Anyway, it is a very very good film.
I really like your film with a clear theme and abundant interesting shots!!
And this film shows the perspective that we rarely focus on. Thank you!
Anni, your film looks sooo great! You have the clearest theme among our films. The photos you took are very well and specific! If you could enhance more about the sound clips, such as add some sound clips took from the site to the still shots, that would be perfect~~ Maybe you could also add some effects between the switch of each pictures or videos to make the transition better! :)
I enjoyed this film mainly because no one else had this theme! I can tell that you put thought into this before it was made, and that is always helpful. The only criticism would be to maybe use sounds from the trip!!
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
